Case Study: Sledge Legacy Partners

Client: Sledge Legacy Partners (formerly Sledge & Company)
Industry: Wealth management, financial planning, and life insurance
What we did: Naming, logo suite, brand messaging, brand guidelines, and full launch rollout

The client

Sledge Legacy Partners is a Ridgeland, Mississippi financial firm led by Taylor Sledge, a internationally recognized financial advisor working with several Fortune 100 companies, who has spent almost two decades helping individuals and families plan for what matters most. Their approach is deeply relational. They sit with clients through the market swings and the life changes, and they build plans meant to hold up over generations.

The challenge

The old brand, Sledge & Company, wasn't broken. After almost twenty years, the firm had earned real trust and built a foundation most advisors would envy. But "Sledge & Company" was a name that could belong to almost any business. It didn't say what they did, and it didn't say why it mattered.

As the firm stepped into its next chapter, that gap started to matter more. They needed a brand that reflected the real impact they have on clients, which is helping families build a lasting legacy. And they needed it to do double duty: attract not only the right clients, but the right advisors to continue growing the team.

This is one of our favorite things to do. Not fixing something that failed, but taking something already good and making it unmistakable.

The approach

We started where we always do, with the truth of the business. When we looked closely at how Sledge actually serves people, one word kept surfacing: legacy. Not as a tagline, but as the real outcome of the work. Clients don't come to Taylor and team for a transaction. They come to build something that outlasts them.

That insight drove everything. The name Sledge Legacy Partners does what the old one couldn't. It's descriptive, it's warm, and it names the promise at the center of the firm. "Partners" matters too. It signals the side-by-side relationship that defines how they work, and it leaves room for the advisor growth ahead.

From there, the strategy shaped every creative decision that followed.

The work

We carried the new brand from idea all the way to launch:

  • Naming. Moving from Sledge & Company to Sledge Legacy Partners, a name that says what they do and why it matters.

  • Logo suite. A versatile set of marks with intentional symbolism, built to work everywhere from a business card to cool merch to billboards.

  • Brand messaging. Language that captures the firm's relational heart and the legacy it helps clients build.

  • Brand guidelines. A clear system of color, type, and usage so the brand stays sharp and consistent as the team grows.

  • Launch. We saw it all the way through: apparel, internal communication to bring the team along, client communication to introduce the change with care, and a coordinated social launch.

The result

The new brand is built to last, which felt right for a firm focused on legacy. The design is timeless rather than trendy, with sharp colors, real symbolism, and a logo system flexible enough to grow with them. The messaging carries weight. And best of all, the brand on the outside matches the impact on the inside.

In their words

“The real proof was not in the result, but in the process. Working through something like “identity” is complex and nuanced. The team at Pittman held us accountable, learned our values, and gave us a certain pace and creative track. This experience gave us the confidence to reach for something new. Our brand today is something we are very proud of…it feels both powerful and timeless.” - Taylor Sledge

In our words

Working with Taylor Sledge and Taylor Triplett on this rebrand was one of my favorite projects to date. It was not long into my initial meeting with them that I came to understand and appreciate their approach to business. They value relationships over everything and work toward building something that will long outlast any business.

To walk alongside the Sledge team as they prepare for and redefine their next chapter was a huge honor. I’m proud of our team’s work on this project and know that it all starts with a good client/partner relationship - which we certainly have with this group. We’re excited to continue watching these guys as they steward what’s next! (little tagline reference 😉)
